Following the initial coverage of the Tollywood T20 trophy, here is the latest news surrounding the Big day. As said earlier, Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh will be the captains of the four teams, names for which are recently decided as follows:
Chiru Cheetas
Balayya Lions
Nag Kings
Venky Warriors
Team jerseys have also been released on the occasion. Since there are only 4 teams, news is that there will be a draw to take around 60 names who will be split into 4 teams from among 100 names that are registered as ‘interested to play’. There are some young fellows in Tollywood who can play some ‘competing cricket’ and those will be spread among the teams in equal numbers to make the matches at least look professional.
Among the four captains, if we go by the previous matches in Tollywood cricket, Venkatesh is by far the best batsmen who can bowl a bit too. But obviously the loudest cheer will come for Chiranjeevi. Did I just here someone saying ‘No, it’s for Balayya’?
The match will be played at LB Stadium in Hyderabad and will be telecast by Sony Max Gemini TV and Teja channel. Around 25 thousand people are expected to fill the stands and cheer the stars. Tickets for the match will be on sale from June at the Stadium itself and if we are to believe our source, the prices start from Rs.300 Rs.200. VIP passes will be priced at Rs.10000.
Tollywood Stars are going to flex their muscles on June 13; however this time it wouldn’t for an action scene. The stars would soon be seen in a T20 cricket tournament which will be held in Lal Bahadur Stadium. Addressing a press conference, Murali Mohan said that it’s going to be an exciting tournament which will be held among 4 teams this June 13. A similar tournament was held in 2003 and 2005. Rhythm Group is going to co-ordinate with the Movie Arts Association (MAA) to conduct this tournament.
The tournament will begin from 9 AM and will go on till 11 PM. The players would be divided into four teams and the captains are Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Venkatesh and Chiranjeevi. Balakrishna addressed the media and said that the matches would be broadcasted on TV and they are going to arrange 24 cameras, quite similar to an IPL match.
The teams would be selected on May 15; the official dress would be unveiled on May 30. Apart from playing cricket matches, several cultural programmes are also being planned. Murali Mohan later added that the artistes would go on a rally to raise their voice against piracy at this venue. All in all, June 13 promises to be an exciting day filled with unlimited cricket and entertainment.
